This body of work called SitPass looks at the landscape, bus routes and designs found throughout the central city of Goiânia, Brazil. The work was created with bus tickets that were discarded and then collected from Goiânia’s central bus system. On average about 200,000 were discarded per day. The project resulted in a collection of paper sculptures and collages with this discarded material along with videos and photographs along the bus routes and terminals. Collaborations has begun with young artists in the community and members interested in exploring this material beyond its intended use.
An anticipated trip back to the country in the 2013-2014 year will complete this exploration. The goal is to redistribute hundreds of hand-made collages containing the bus tickets to workers within the terminals, buses, and kiosks.
